How to Leave Full Screen in Microsoft Edge on Windows 11
What you need: A Windows 11 computer with Microsoft Edge filling the whole screen, so that you cannot see Edge's row of tabs, its address bar or the taskbar, the bar with Start and the time along the bottom of the screen.
Before you begin: If the page on the screen is a warning that says your computer is blocked or infected, or asks you to call a phone number, do not use these steps. Follow How to Close a Suspicious Warning in Microsoft Edge on Windows 11 instead.
Steps
- Look at the top row of keys on the keyboard. Most of them are named with an F and a number, from F1 near the left to F12 near the right. On a laptop, these keys often show small pictures as well, such as a sun or a speaker.
- Find the F11 key, near the right end of that row. Press it once and let go. If Edge's row of tabs and its address bar appear again, Edge has left full screen, and you are finished.
- If the tabs and the address bar did not appear, use the Fn key, marked Fn, in the bottom row of the keyboard, usually near the left corner. On many laptops, F11 works only while Fn is held down; pressed alone, it does what its small picture shows. Hold down Fn, press F11 once while still holding it, then let go of both keys. Edge's row of tabs and its address bar appear again.
Expected result: Edge's row of tabs and its address bar are back at the top of the Edge window, and the page you were looking at is still open.
