How to Point, Click and Scroll on a Chromebook
What you need: A Chromebook that you have signed in to, with its built-in touchpad, the flat panel below the keyboard. An internet connection.
Steps
- Find the pointer, a small arrow on the screen. Slide one finger across the touchpad. The pointer moves the same way as your finger. If your finger reaches the edge of the touchpad, lift it and start again from the other side.
- Move the pointer onto Launcher, the circle at the lower-left corner of the screen. Keeping the pointer still, press the lower half of the touchpad once and let go. This is called clicking. A search box and pictures of apps appear.
- Type Chrome, then click Chrome in the results. Chrome opens.
- Click the long address bar at the top of Chrome. Type stepsonscreen.com, then press the Enter key on the right side of the keyboard. The Steps on Screen website opens.
- Move the pointer onto the word Resources in the dark bar at the top of the page. The pointer changes to a pointing hand, which shows that it is on a link. Click once. The Resources page opens.
- To scroll, place two fingers side by side on the touchpad and slide them up or down together. The page moves. If it moved toward its top, slide your fingers the other way. Keep going until you reach the end of the page, where it stops moving.
- Slide both fingers the other way until you see the top of the page again.
Expected result: You moved the pointer, clicked to open Chrome and the Resources page, and scrolled to the end of the page and back to its top.
