How to Double-Click a Word on a Chromebook

What you need: A Chromebook that you have signed in to, with its built-in touchpad. An internet connection.

Steps

  1. Click Launcher, the circle at the lower-left corner of the screen. To click, slide one finger on the touchpad to move the pointer onto it, then press the lower half of the touchpad once and let go.
  2. Type Chrome, then click Chrome in the results.
  3. Click the long address bar at the top of Chrome. Type stepsonscreen.com, then press the Enter key on the right side of the keyboard.
  4. Move the pointer onto a word in the middle of a line of plain words, not onto a link. Links are often blue or underlined, and over a link the pointer changes to a pointing hand.
  5. Keeping the pointer still, press the lower half of the touchpad twice quickly. If the word is not highlighted, try again a little faster, without moving the pointer between the two presses.

Expected result: The word is highlighted with a colored background.
