How to Let a Website Use Your Camera and Microphone Again in Safari on a Mac
What you need: A Mac with macOS Ventura 13 or later and the website you blocked from using your camera and microphone, such as the website you use for video calls.
Before you begin: Open that website in Safari, the way you usually reach it, and leave it open. Safari's settings list the websites that are open, so you can find it there. Choosing Allow in these steps lets that website use your camera and microphone without asking you each time.
Steps
- Look at the address bar, the wide box in the toolbar across the top of the Safari window. Find the website's name in it, such as example.com.
- Click Safari beside the Apple menu at the top of the screen, then click Settings.
- Click Websites at the top of the Settings window.
- On the left, click Camera.
- On the right, find the website's name from step 1 in the list. Click the menu beside it, then click Allow.
- On the left, click Microphone. Find the website's name again, click the menu beside it, then click Allow.
- Check that Allow is shown beside the website's name, then close the Settings window using the red button in its upper-left corner.
- In the menu bar at the top of the screen, click View, then click Reload Page. If a message asks whether you are sure you want to reload or leave this page, click the button that is not Stay on Page. The website's page loads again.
Expected result: Allow is shown beside the website's name under both Camera and Microphone in Safari's settings. After its page loads again, the website can use your camera and microphone, such as when you join your video call again.
