How to Let a Website Use Your Camera and Microphone Again in Safari on an iPhone
What you need: An iPhone and the website you blocked from using your camera and microphone, such as the website you use for video calls.
Before you begin: The settings in these steps are for the website that is open in the Safari app, the blue compass icon. If you came here from the Steps on Screen camera and microphone test, stay on this page: it belongs to the same website as the test. Otherwise, open the website you blocked, the way you usually reach it, and leave it open. Choosing Allow lets that website use your camera and microphone without asking you each time. Step 8 loads the page again, which clears anything you have typed on it.
Steps
- Look at the address bar, the wide box with rounded ends that shows the website's name. It is at the bottom of the screen or at the top, depending on how your Safari is set up.
- Tap the Page Menu button at the left end of the address bar. Its picture is a few short lines, sometimes under a small box, or the letters aA. A menu opens.
- In the menu, look for Website Settings. If you do not see it, tap More, the round button with three dots in the menu, then look again.
- If Camera and Microphone are not listed yet, tap Website Settings. A list of the website's settings opens, including Camera and Microphone.
- Tap Camera. A short list of choices opens: Ask, Deny and Allow. Tap Allow.
- Tap Microphone, then tap Allow in its list.
- Check that Allow is shown beside Camera and beside Microphone. If one shows another word, tap it, then tap Allow. Then close the settings: tap Done if you see it, or tap an empty part of the page outside the menu.
- Tap the Reload button, the circular arrow at the right end of the address bar. The website's page loads again.
Expected result: Allow is shown beside Camera and Microphone for that website. After its page loads again, the website can use your camera and microphone, such as when you join your video call again.
