What Is a Web Browser?
A web browser is the app you use to visit websites. It shows web pages and lets you move between them with links, tabs and the Back arrow. Microsoft Edge, Safari and Google Chrome are all web browsers.
What it looks like
A browser is a window with a row of tabs and an address bar near the top, and the web page filling the rest of the window. The buttons around the edge of the window belong to the browser. Everything inside the page belongs to the website.
On Windows and on a Mac
Windows 11 comes with the Microsoft Edge browser, and a Mac comes with the Safari browser. Other browsers, such as Google Chrome, can be installed on either computer.
