How to Restart a Chromebook

What you need: A Chromebook that is turned on, and the password or PIN you use to sign in to it.

Before you begin: Save your work and close your documents. Restart closes your apps, turns the Chromebook off, and starts it again.

Steps

1. Click the time in the lower-right corner of the screen. A panel opens.
2. Click the power symbol, a circle with a short line at the top.
3. In the menu, click Restart.
4. Wait while the Chromebook turns off and starts again. The screen goes dark for a moment, which is normal.
5. When the sign-in screen appears, click your name or picture if more than one is shown. Type the password or PIN you use to sign in, then press Enter.

Expected result: The Chromebook has started again and shows the desktop.
