How to Turn On a Chromebook Laptop

What you need: A Chromebook laptop that is turned off, and its charger.

Steps

  1. Plug the charger into the Chromebook and into a wall outlet.
  2. Open the lid: lift the top half until the screen faces you. If the screen lights up, go to step 4.
  3. Find the power button. It is either a small button on one side of the computer, or a key at the upper-right corner of the keyboard that shows the power symbol, a circle with a short line at the top. Press the power button once and let go.
  4. Wait while the Chromebook starts. This can take up to a minute.
  5. If the screen is still dark after two minutes, leave the charger plugged in for at least 30 minutes, then press the power button once again.
  6. Wait until you see the sign-in screen, with your name or picture, or the desktop.

Expected result: The Chromebook is on and shows the sign-in screen or the desktop.
