How to See a Saved Password in Microsoft Edge on Windows 11
What you need: A Windows 11 computer with Microsoft Edge signed in to your personal Microsoft account, the name of the website whose password you want to see, and the PIN or password you use to sign in to this computer.
Before you begin: The password will show on the screen. Make sure nobody else can see it.
Steps
- Click Start (the Windows logo) on the taskbar at the bottom of the screen.
- Type Microsoft Edge, then click Microsoft Edge in the search results to open it.
- Click the three dots (Settings and more) in the upper-right corner of Edge, next to your profile picture, then click Settings. Settings opens.
- Look for the list on the left side of Settings. If you do not see it, click the button with three short lines to the left of the word Settings at the top of the page. Click Passwords and autofill in the list.
- Click Microsoft Password Manager. A list of the websites that Edge saved passwords for opens.
- Find the website's name in the list. Scroll down to see more. If the website's name is not in the list, Microsoft Password Manager has no password listed under that name. You can close Edge by clicking the X at the upper-right corner of its window.
- Click the right arrow (>) next to the website's name. If the website is listed more than once, click the arrow next to the username you want.
- If a window appears in front of Edge asking you to confirm it is you, do what it asks: type the PIN or password you use to sign in to this computer, or use your face or fingerprint if you sign in that way. If you typed a password, press the Enter key.
- Find the password, which shows as dots, and click the eye symbol next to it. If the window from step 8 appears now, do what it asks as in step 8.
- Read the password, which now shows in place of the dots.
- When you have read it, click the eye symbol again to hide the password.
Expected result: You saw the password Edge saved for the website and hid it again.
