How to See a Saved Password in Google Chrome on Windows 11

What you need: A Windows 11 computer with Google Chrome, the name of the website whose password you want to see, and the PIN or password you use to sign in to this computer.

Before you begin: The password will show on the screen. Make sure nobody else can see it.

Steps

  1. Click Start (the Windows logo) on the taskbar at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Type Chrome, then click Google Chrome in the search results to open it.
  3. Click the three dots standing one above the other (More) at the upper-right corner of the Chrome window. A menu opens.
  4. Click Passwords and autofill, then click Google Password Manager. A page opens with a list of websites under Passwords.
  5. Find the website's name in the list. Scroll down to see more. Click the website's name once. If the website's name is not in the list, Chrome has not saved a password for it, and you can close Chrome.
  6. If a window appears in front of Chrome asking you to confirm it is you, do what it asks: type the PIN or password you use to sign in to this computer, or use your face or fingerprint if you sign in that way. If you typed a password, press the Enter key. This is the computer's PIN or password, not your Google account password.
  7. Next to the password, which shows as dots, click the eye symbol (Show password). If the window from step 6 appears now, do what it asks as in step 6.
  8. Read the password, which now shows as letters and numbers. If the website has more than one saved password, check the username shown above it.
  9. Click the eye symbol again. The password shows as dots again.

Expected result: You saw the password Chrome saved for the website, and it shows as dots again.
