How to Save a Web Page as a PDF in Google Chrome on Windows 11

What you need: A Windows 11 computer and the web page you want to keep, such as an order confirmation or an article, open in Google Chrome. Chrome's symbol is a circle of red, yellow and green around a blue dot. You do not need a printer: these steps make a PDF file instead of a paper copy.

Steps

  1. If you cannot see the Chrome window showing the web page, click the Google Chrome symbol on the taskbar at the bottom of the screen. If small pictures of several Chrome windows appear, click the one showing the web page you want to keep. If the Chrome window disappears instead, click the symbol again.
  2. Check that the web page you want to keep is showing. If it is on another tab, click that tab at the top of the Chrome window.
  3. Click the three dots standing one above the other (More) at the upper-right corner of the Chrome window. A menu opens.
  4. Click Print. Chrome's Print window opens. Wait until a picture of the page appears on its left side.
  5. On the right side, click the box beside Destination to open its list, then click Save as PDF. Check that Save as PDF is now shown beside Destination and that the blue button at the bottom says Save. If Save as PDF is not in the list, click Cancel and stop here.
  6. Click Save. Nothing is printed on paper. A window titled Save As opens.
  7. In the list on the left side of the Save As window, click Documents.
  8. Near the bottom of the window, click the File name box, which shows a name taken from the web page. Hold down the Ctrl key, in the bottom row near the left corner of the keyboard. While holding it, press the A key once, then let go of both keys. All the text in the box is highlighted.
  9. Type a short name you will recognize, such as Order confirmation. It replaces the highlighted text. The ending .pdf is added for you.
  10. Click Save at the bottom right of the window. The window closes. If a message asks whether to replace a file that already exists, click No, do steps 8 and 9 again with a different name, and click Save again.
  11. Click Start (the Windows logo) on the taskbar.
  12. Type File Explorer, then click File Explorer in the search results to open it.
  13. Click Documents on the left side of the File Explorer window.

Expected result: Documents shows a new file with the name you typed, such as Order confirmation. Its name may end with .pdf. Scroll down to see more files if you do not see it. This file is the PDF of the web page.
