How to Recognize an App and Its Window on a Chromebook

What you need: A Chromebook that you have signed in to, with its built-in touchpad.

Steps

  1. Click Launcher, the circle at the lower-left corner of the screen.
  2. Type Files, then click Files in the results. Files is an app for seeing your files and folders. It opens in its own window, a rectangle on the screen.
  3. Look at the upper-right corner of the window. Three buttons sit side by side: a short line, a middle button that changes the size of the window, and an X. The short line hides the window, and the X closes it.
  4. Click the short line. The window moves out of sight. While Files is open, its picture stays on the shelf at the bottom of the screen.
  5. Move the pointer along the shelf until a small label says Files, then click that picture. The window comes back.

Expected result: The Files window is on the screen again, and you found its three window buttons.
