How to Check Available Storage on an iPhone

What you need: An iPhone.

Steps

1. On the Home screen, tap Settings, the gray icon with gears. Settings opens.
2. Slide one finger up the screen to scroll down until you see General, then tap General.
3. Tap iPhone Storage. The iPhone may take a few seconds to count what it holds. Wait until a bar with colored parts appears near the top of the screen.
4. Read the words above the bar, such as 48 GB of 128 GB used. The first amount is the space in use. The second is all the space the iPhone has. The difference is the space still free: in this example, 80 GB.

Expected result: You can see how much of the iPhone's storage space is used and how much is still free.
