How to Open a Saved File on a Chromebook

What you need: A Chromebook, the name of a file you saved, and the name of the folder you saved it in, such as Downloads. If you do not remember the folder, use How to Search for a File by Name on a Chromebook instead. It searches My files, which holds Downloads.

Steps

1. Click Launcher, the circle at the lower-left corner of the screen.
2. Type Files, then click Files in the results to open it.
3. On the left, click the folder that holds your file, such as Downloads (under My files) or My Drive (under Google Drive). To open a folder inside it, double-click that folder: click its name twice quickly. Continue until you see your file.
4. Double-click the file's name. Wait a few seconds for it to open.

Expected result: Your file opens.
