How to Stop Notifications from a Website in Google Chrome on an Android Phone

What you need: An Android phone with the Chrome app (the round red, yellow and green icon with a blue center), and an unwanted notification from Chrome that shows a website address, such as example.com.

Before you begin: Read the website address on the notification without tapping the notification. If the notification has gone, swipe down from the top edge of the screen to see your notifications, and read the address there.

Steps

  1. Tap the Chrome app. If you do not see it on the Home screen, put your finger in the middle of the Home screen and slide it up to see all your apps, then tap Chrome.
  2. Tap More, the three dots in a column at the right of the address bar. The address bar is at the top of the screen, or at the bottom if your Chrome is set that way. A menu opens.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Slide one finger up the screen to scroll down, then tap Site settings.
  5. Tap Notifications. A list of websites opens.
  6. Find the website address from the notification in the list, then tap it. The phone's own settings open on a page about that website's notifications.
  7. Find the switch on that page, beside the website's name or at the top. Tap it so that it turns off: its round knob moves to the left, and its color changes to gray or white. Check that the switch is now off.

Expected result: The switch for that website's notifications is off. New notifications from that website will stop.
