What Is the Esc Key?
The Esc key is the key at the top-left corner of the keyboard. Esc is short for Escape. It often cancels or closes what just opened, such as a menu, and in a web browser it can leave full screen.
What it looks like
It is the first key on the left of the top row, the row of smaller keys above the numbers. It is marked Esc or esc. On some MacBook Pro laptops with a touch strip above the numbers, esc appears at the left end of that strip.
On Windows and on a Mac
On a Windows keyboard it is marked Esc. On a Mac keyboard it is marked esc, in small letters. It does the same job on both.
